Southern Charm

Southern Charm is an abstract expressionist work by the Chinese contemporary artist Tang Chenghua, part of a limited-edition print series of 100 pieces. The painting constructs a geographically charged visual field through highly expressive impasto oil paint and bold scraping strokes: deep purple and cyan-blue blocks evoke the mountains and waters of the South, while ochre and emerald accents represent the land and vegetation. Black ink-splashed lines—like birds or wind and rain—dance across the canvas. Between the free collision of color and the layered depth of texture, it conveys the natural poetry and humanistic sentiment inherent in “Southern Charm.”
