Southern Charm is an abstract expressionist work by the Chinese contemporary artist Tang Chenghua, part of a limited-edition print series of 100 pieces. The painting constructs a geographically charged visual field through highly expressive impasto oil paint and bold scraping strokes: deep purple and cyan-blue blocks evoke the mountains and waters of the South, while ochre and emerald accents represent the land and vegetation. Black ink-splashed lines—like birds or wind and rain—dance across the canvas. Between the free collision of color and the layered depth of texture, it conveys the natural poetry and humanistic sentiment.
